Astrology or Jyotish consists mainly of two parts: Astronomy and Astrology.

Astronomy : is the science study of the location, magnitudes, motions, nature and constitution of celestial bodies and structures. or basically charting of the motion and the nature of the heavenly bodies.

Astrology: is the science, study of effect and influences of the celestial bodies on life on earth, It is the knowledge of planet to planet relationships and planetary influences on life and its environment. 

Its study of light, heavenly body influences on life. It has originated from The Vedas (Vedic Scriptures) dating back over 6,000 years. The world’s most ancient scriptures give evidence of a culture rich in the arts, philosophy, medicine, religion and science across the globe.

In the Indian Ancient Sacred Texts, Jyotish was first mentioned in the Rig Veda, and references were also made in the classical Indian epics, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and the classic Bhagavad-Gita.

How Astrology works ?

Astrology is based on a pure science, fact is that the astrological chart is based on astronomical data which is the exact chart of the heavens showing various planets, as they could be seen in the heavens at that particular time and from that particular place on earth.

Astrologer prepares the chart of an Individual referring to birth place, date & time which reflects exact position of the planets in Solar system at that point of time and place when the person was born.

Why a chart of planets is required when one was born ?

Astrology is a system of analysis, based on the effect of different planets (of our solar system) on the life of Earth.
